Oil prices end higher after earlier slide

NEW YORK (AP) -- The price of oil finished higher Friday as concerns about a disappointing U.S. employment report gave way to the likelihood of action by the Federal Reserve.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange:
Benchmark crude rose 89 cents to finish at $96.42 per barrel.
Wholesale gasoline rose 2.86 cents to end at $3.0196 a gallon.
Heating oil rose 0.64 cent to finish at $3.1489 a gallon.
Natural gas lost 9.4 cents to end at $2.6820 per 1,000 cubic feet.
On the ICE futures exchange in London:
Brent crude rose 76 cents to finish at $114.25.
